A device, its battery and its box,
are three regimes, not one registration.
Selling equipment to Dutch buyers can create a packaging duty, a WEEE duty and a battery duty at the same time. Packaging is the stream we price and coordinate: the device box, the accessories pack and the shipping carton are weighed for the calendar year against the 50,000 kg allowance, which is a packaging rule and covers nothing else. WEEE and batteries are handled as information and a written quote, because classification, the applicable register and the live route have to be confirmed against current official material before anything is filed.

Timing depends on document completeness and independent registry and scheme review
Confirm the live battery route before anything is filed
The battery stream is in transition rather than settled, so we treat it as an open question with a human review point instead of a finished registration route. It stays separate from the packaging file, and the applicable register and route are confirmed against current official material for the entity and the product concerned.
Three regimes, three sets of evidence
The embedded battery disappears
A cell supplied inside equipment is still a battery for its own regime, with its own technical data, and it does not stop being one because the device is recorded somewhere else.
The packaging allowance is stretched over everything
The 50,000 kg allowance sits in the Besluit beheer verpakkingen 2014 and the waste fund agreement and measures packaging only. It says nothing about equipment or batteries and never converts into a position on them.
One fee is assumed to cover the catalogue
A packaging price is a packaging price. Registration, systems, contributions and maintenance in the WEEE and battery streams are separate third-party costs and are scoped in writing before anything is quoted.
Included in the written scope.
- Catalogue map for equipment, batteries and packaging
- Packaging weight per material for the calendar year against the 50,000 kg allowance
- Working WEEE category and battery-data checklist
- Packaging registration and declaration route where the allowance is exceeded
- WEEE and battery routes confirmed against current official material before filing
- Written quote for WEEE and battery work after classification
Four controlled steps.
Establish who places the goods on the market
Record the entity, the Dutch customer, the contracts and the route to the buyer for electronics and battery sales, so the first-placer question is answered before anything else.
Weigh the calendar year
Packaging is reconstructed per material from pack specifications and shipped volumes, then set against the 50,000 kg allowance for the calendar year.
Separate what sits outside it
Deposit and single-use plastic packaging are charged from the first unit, and WEEE and batteries are assessed as their own regimes rather than as part of the packaging file.
Write the scope and keep the evidence
Private fees, exclusions, external costs and approvals are agreed in writing before any work begins, and the calculation and the documents behind it stay linked to the entity and the calendar year that produced them.
Frequently asked
Does a packaging registration cover the device and its battery?
No. Packaging, WEEE and batteries are distinct regimes with their own evidence, their own counterparties and their own recurring duties. We never present one record, number or fee as though it covered the other two.
Does the 50,000 kg allowance apply to my equipment or batteries?
No. The allowance is a packaging rule: article 9 and article 8(1) of the Besluit beheer verpakkingen 2014 and the generally binding waste fund agreement measure packaging placed on the Dutch market in a calendar year. A seller below the limit on packaging can still have duties in the other two streams.
Which battery route applies now?
The battery rules are in transition rather than settled, so the live route is confirmed against current official material for the entity and the product before anything is filed. We do not publish a register name, a number format, a fee or a deadline for this stream without dated primary evidence.
Do you publish a fixed WEEE or battery price?
No. These are information-and-quote streams. Classification, entity, representation and system scope are reviewed first and the price is then set in a written scope. A packaging tariff table is never used to price equipment or batteries.
